Learn How to Play Two Player Card Games

Want to learn how to play some two player card games like the popular Spit and Cribbage? Here we will teach you how to play such games. Just read and understand everything carefully.

Spit

Spit is also popularly known as Speed. It is a two player card game that is fast-paced, intense and above all enjoyable.

To start the game, players must be ready first. And when they seem to be finally ready, they must then shout out “Spit!” while turning over the top card in their respective stockpiles. These two cards are placed side by side between the hands of the players. These two cards and the cards that will be played on top of them are the spit piles.

For a player to win, he or she must get rid of all the cards in his or her hand piles and the cards placed in front of him or her onto the spit piles. Moving only one card at a time in one of his or her hands, he or she can play the face up card from the top of one of his or her piles onto either spit pile or turn the top card of such a pile face-up if one or more of his or her piles has its top card face-down. Moving a face up card from the top of a pile into an empty pile space is also possible if there is one. Same thing with removing 1 card and stack it on top of the other and still have 5 piles if 2 face-up cards in different piles are identical in number.

In the event a card touches the spit pile or space onto which it is to be placed, it must be counted as played. A played card cannot be retracted and as soon as it is played the opponent can play on it. In case time comes that neither player can play players can optionally shout “Spit!” and each places the top card from their respective stockpile on top of the spit pile they have in the start of the game. Play will continue till either player has removed all of their cards from play. First player to get rid of all cards is the winner.

Cribbage

Cribbage is simply known as crib. Traditionally, it is for two players however nowadays it is commonly played with three, four or more players. Basically, it involves playing and grouping cards in combinations which gain points.

To play and start the game, each player must be dealt six cards and must immediately discard two, face down, to the crib. The crib is an extra hand that alternates players between deals. The player with the crib is called the dealer while the other player is called the elder.

Points in one’s hand accumulate from pairs, runs and combinations of cards that add to 15. What one will throw away to the crib depends on whether he or she is the dealer or the elder during that round. At the end of the round the points in the crib go to the dealer nonetheless.
