Rummy

Presently, Rummy is the best-known of all family card games mainly because of its simplicity. Basically, it can be played by two to six players with the use of the standard deck of 52 cards. Card are typically rank as K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace. At times, the Ace can either be the highest or lowest rank in the deck oftentimes depending on the type of game you are playing.

To finally start the game, one player must be seated to the left hand of the dealer. The said player then must draw one card, either the top card of the stock or the top card of the discard pile and must add it to his hand. Following players must do the same thing. Then each one must then lay down on the table, face up, any matched set. Discard one card, face up, on top of the discard pile. In the event one draws the top card of the discard pile, he or she may not dispose it in the same turn.

Objective of the game has something to do with the disposing all of the cards in hand ahead of others particularly by arranging as many as possible cards in hand into sets or runs of cards.

The player who is the first one to dispose all of the cards in his hand at once is the winner.

Old Maid

Old Maid is considered a long time favorite and famous family card game. It is mostly enjoyed by two or more players using 51 cards discarding one of the four queens in a standard 52 card deck.

To begin the fun, every player must remove from his hand, in twos, all pairs of cards. Then you must extend your hand, spread out face down, to the player at your left who selects one card from it. Such player disposes any pair which may have been formed by the card drawn and now extends his own hand to the player at his left. Game continues in such way till all cards are finally paired. Player who has the final card in his hand is the old maid.

Pig

Pig is a famous British family card game that will make anyone roar with laughter. Typically, it is played by three to thirteen players using 16 card pack consisting of four aces, four kings, four queens and four jacks.

The game is usually started by all players looking at their hands. Each player then passes a single card to the player at the left, then picks up the card passed by the player at the right. If any player in the game has in hand four cards of one denomination, that player stops passing or picking up the cards. And right away, he or she puts a finger to his or her nose. Other plays must then immediately stop passing and other players must also put a finger to their nose. The last player to do so is the pig.
